Name of Committee:       Labour Relations Committee – Support Staff

 

 

GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES:

 

1.                   Powers of the Committee:

 

a.      To negotiate with unionized support staff groups in good faith and to conclude a Memorandum of Agreement for recommendation to the Board.

 

b.      To meet with representatives of non-unionized support staff groups and division office departments to share concerns regarding conditions of employment as outlined in the respective support staff policies and/or regulations.

 

c.      To review support staff salary scales and applicable policies, procedures and regulations.

 

d.      To make recommendations to the Board in regard to salary scale adjustments or changes to applicable policies, procedures and regulations.

 

 

2.         Committee Terms of Reference:

 

a.      Membership:                   - Three trustees.

- Superintendent and/or designate.

 

b.      Meetings:                                    As required.

 

c.      Minutes:                           To be filed at the Board office.

 

d.      Reporting to the Board:    - Next regular meeting.

- Recommended action by the committee will be brought to the Board as recommendations.

- Reports will be given verbally in camera until the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement.  A copy of the memorandum will be made available to each trustee.  Upon approval of the revised contract a copy of the signed agreement will be provided to all trustees

 

e.      Remuneration:                  As per Board policy and rates.

 

f.       Budget:                           As required.
