Name of Committee: Student Appeal Committee

GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES:

1. Powers of the Committee:

a. To conduct hearings and expel or reinstate a student following a recommendation from a school principal that the student be suspended for a period greater than five days in accordance with The School Act.

b. To conduct hearings into matters which significantly affect a student’s education.

2. Committee Terms of Reference:

a. Membership:

Two Committees: - one for Aspen View north

- one for Aspen View south

- Three trustees.

- Superintendent or designate

b. Meetings: Arranged within 10 school days of referral for action.

c. Minutes: Minutes to be filed at the Board office.

d. Reporting to the Board: Next regular meeting.

e. Remuneration: As per Board policy and rates.

f. Budget: As required.
