POLICY STATEMENT:
The Board believes that situations may
arise where it is in the best public interest to discuss sensitive matters in
closed meetings.
GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES:
1. The
Board may convene in camera only when discussing matters pertaining to
a. individual
students
b. individual
employees
c. individual
trustees
d. collective
bargaining with employees
e. acquisition
or disposal of real property
f. litigation
brought by or against the Board
g. contracts
with the Board
h. other
issues deemed to be of a confidential nature
2. The
Board may convene in camera only by proper resolution of the Board. Such
resolution shall:
a. Be
recorded in the minutes of the Board.
b. Specify
those individuals eligible to attend.
3. During
the in camera meeting, the Board shall:
a. Discuss
only the matter which gave rise to the closed meeting.
b. Adopt only
such resolution as is required to re-convene the Board in an open, public
meeting.
4. Board
members and other persons attending the in camera meeting are
honour-bound not to disclose the details of the discussion.
