CATEGORY:  SCHOOL BASED DECISION MAKING

 

 

POLICY STATEMENT:

 

The Board believes that students and the community will be the beneficiaries when the school is the focus of decision making for activities which directly impact the education of students.

 

 

GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES:

 

The Superintendent is authorized to delegate certain responsibilities to the school principals.  The delegated responsibilities include:

 

1.         The development, implementation and stewardship of the annual school budget.

 

2.         The assignment of duties, evaluation, supervision, and professional development of all school based staff in conjunction with the Superintendent/Designate.

 

3.         The involvement, as appropriate, of staff, parents, students, school councils and the local community in decision making processes and information exchange.

 

4.         The evaluation, analysis and public reporting of board and provincially identified school results.

 

5.         The development, implementation, evaluation and reporting of annual and longer term school goals.

 

Each of these responsibilities shall be completed in a manner consistent with applicable Board policies, goals and the duties assigned to Principals through the School Act.
