The Board believes
that education plans should be developed to address local needs consistent with
provincial accountability requirements.
1. The Board shall engage in planning sessions periodically in order to develop the Division’s Education Plan and School Board Expenditure Plan consistent with Alberta Learning’s Plan.
2. At the
planning sessions the Board shall:
a. review the
mission, vision, belief statement, basic principles for decision making,
guiding principles for decision making
b. review
provincial goals
c. establish
local priority objectives
d. recommend
desired outcomes
3. The Superintendent shall develop the Division Education Plan, which will include:
a. strategies
b. outcomes
c. performance
measures and targets
d. action plans
e. assignments
to address action plans
f. timelines
4. The Superintendent shall develop an Annual Education Results Report which communicates progress and achievement on the undertakings of the Division Education Plan.
5. The
Superintendent is responsible for having a Division Education Plan and
supporting documents developed and updated annually.
6. The
Secretary-Treasurer is responsible for ensuring that Division and school
budgeting priorities and practices are consistent with Alberta Learning
regulations, Board policies and administrative directives.
7. The school Principal is responsible for the development of the School Education Plan, the deployment of resources in accordance with provincial, Division and school goals, and the preparation of an annual School Education Report.
8. The
development of the Division and School Education Plans and Reports shall:
a. provide stakeholders with an opportunity for input into the information of the Education Plans
b. require
Principals and Superintendent to determine enrolment projections as part of the
planning process
c. reflect the
Aspen View Regional Division No.19 Mission, Vision and Goals, provincial and
school goals (school plans only) and report the results achieved in the plans
d. include
Division/school mission, goals/objectives and strategies, measures, expected
outcomes, expected timelines for completion, and appropriate budget management
procedures based on quantitative and qualitative analysis of achievement and
other available data.
9. Budget allocations to schools will be based on the overall Division fiscal plan and the provincial funding framework.
10. The Education
Plans will outline the deployment of resources at the Division and school
levels respectively.
11. The Results
Report will assess the degree to which goals, objectives and targets have been
achieved.
DEFINITIONS:
1. Goals: long-term improvements to be accomplished.
2. Strategies: actions to accomplish goals.
3. Outcomes: desired results related to the goals.
4. Performance
Measures: benchmarks and targets to be
achieved.
5. Action
Plans: activities to fulfill the
strategies.
6. Timelines: dates by which activities are to be achieved.
