Guiding Principles For Decision Making
The Board of
Trustees has officially adopted these guiding principles. They will be used to provide guidance when
the Board is arriving at decisions. Our
overall goal is to ensure a high degree of consistency as we deal with
increasingly complex issues.
Acceptability
- Is it acceptable to our
publics?

Adequacy
- Is the quality of service
improved?

Consequences - Is there a significant alternative?
Economy
- Is there a significant cost
saving?
Feasibility
- Is it operationally
possible?
Acceptability is
assessed by whether the other broad principles are met in such a way that the
public are willing to accept the proposals.
Economy refers to the overall cost effectiveness and
how it is affected by a decision. It is
measured by the actual difference in costs or savings. Adequacy refers to
the quality of service and how it is affected by a decision. It is measured by the user – the student and
his/her parents. The feasibility of a decision is
determined by whether it satisfies the operational requirements and constraints
and is physically realizable. Consequences refers
to courses of action that may be undertaken by those most directly or
significantly affected by a decision.
