Every
year we honor students who have excelled or shown significant
improvement. Awards are presented in the various curricular
areas as well as for social skills and personal development.
The Christmas Concert
The annual Grassland Christmas Concert is truly a community
event. The concert begins with entertainment by the students
and staff. Students, staff, parents, grandparents, and friends
all enjoy the concert. The ceremony is concluded with a visit
from Santa who is a big hit with the younger children.
The Drumheller Field Trip
Grassland School's bi-annual
Drumheller trip is an enjoyable learning experience for the
Grade 7/8 classes. As a part of the science curriculum students
take part in a three-day trip to Drumheller, where they visit
many interesting places including the Tyrell Museum,
Groundwork's National Science Museum, Reptile World, and the
Atlas Coal mine. The final treat for the students is to stop
for a few hours at West Edmonton Mall. The Junior High
concession raises funds for this event.
The Hot Lunch
Program

days a week throughout the school year you can purchase lunch
for a dollar or two. This program is made possible through the
cooperative efforts of volunteers and parents around the
community who prepare and serve these delicious meals to the
Grassland students.

activities including swimming lessons, field trips, and the
playground society.
Volunteer Tea
Each year in May, we honor our volunteers. The time and talents
they contribute to our school is invaluable. The concert,
strawberry shortcake, and tea are a small token of our
appreciation. We appreciate all their effort.
The Year-end
Parties
At
the end of each year, the elementary grades plan their year-end
parties. With the help of staff and supervisors they head out
for a day of fun, food and sun. Students, staff and parents say
goodbye and celebrate the closing of another successful school
year.

"Drug Abuse Resists Education" program is taught to the Grade
six students by the Boyle R.C.M.P. D.A.R.E. teaches students
about the harmful effects of drugs, alcohol, smoking etc. This
program has been a great success.

posters, poems, and essays depicting those who fought in the
war. The Legion representatives come and join us in a
ceremony. Following a meal of soup and buns, we watch a
traditional Remembrance Day film.

the month of April, the Elementary students travel to the
Athabasca Landing Pool and take swimming lessons. They also
enjoy a half-hour of free swimming before returning to school.
