SEARCHES AND INTERROGATIONS

If suspected of wrong doing, a student may be directed by the
Principal to empty pockets, knapsacks, purses, desks, lockers,
etc. If physical searches are deemed necessary, the police shall
be contacted. Any search which is part of a criminal investigation
will be conducted by the police.

Only school personnel, the legal guardian of the child, law en-
forcement officers, and in some circumstances child welfare au-
thorities have the right to interview a student on school premises.

All interrogations will be done in accordance with Aspen View Pol-
icy IFG and the Young Offender’s Act.

VIEWING OF RECORDS

Students records are open for viewing by parents or guardians.
They can be viewed by making an appointment with the school
principal.

Personal information will not be released to any other individuals
or agencies other than legal guardians with the exception of ba-
sic information required by Aspen View Division #19 or the De-
partment of Education.

Information will be released in accordance within the guidelines
set out in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy
Act.

EARLY LEAVES OR EXTENDED VACATIONS

Extending vacation periods or taking vacations during school days
is not recommended since this usually effects student progress
detrimentally. When extended leaves become necessary,
teachers must be given advance warning in order to prepare
assignments. Students are responsible for making arrangements
to catch up on all work missed.

Students will not be exempt from missed assignments during
their absence.
