Homegrown in Aspen View: Megan Ledieu

Megan LedieuI first began attending Aspen View Public Schools in Athabasca in Grade One at Whispering Hills Primary School. I enjoyed the teachers and the amenities of Athabasca’s schools until my graduation from Edwin Parr Composite School in 2014. My school experience was an absolutely marvelous one. I am fortunate enough to have been taught by some wonderful human beings who have continued to mentor me throughout my journey into the field of education and within my personal life. The experience of meeting people at a young age who were willing to help me, and having them continue to help me grow, has taught me what I hope to do for the students that experience me as their teacher.

While I enjoyed attending school, I was always waiting for the bell to ring so I could head over to the Athabasca Dance Society studio. It was there that I built some of the most meaningful friendships and realized that teaching may be in my future. Through my education and my dedication to dance, I learned the skills and discipline required to follow through on my loftier goals.

Immediately following my graduation from the University of Alberta in 2018, I returned to Athabasca to begin my teaching career. I have been fortunate enough to be able to teach some of the subjects that I am most passionate about, including English, foods, dance, yoga and fitness. The students I have interacted with have been wonderful and I am happy to say that I learn something new from them every single day that I show up to teach them. I am excited to see what the future holds for me at Edwin Parr and in the community of Athabasca.
