Enhanced COVID-19 protocols

Enhanced COVID-19 protocols
Posted on 04/16/2021

Following our experience with the recent COVID-19 outbreak in Athabasca, Aspen View Public Schools is reinforcing and enhancing COVID-19 protocols. Effective Monday, April 19, 2021:

  • Mask use on school buses is now mandatory for all students including K-3 students. If your child is unable to wear a mask for medical reasons, please contact your school administration.
  • Aspen View Public Schools strongly recommends and encourages mask use by all students, including K-3 students; mask use remains mandatory for Grades 4-12 students.
  • Schools will mandate increased mask use in settings where they previously were relaxed, such as during physical education classes.

We are implementing these enhanced protocols to further protect our students and staff from COVID-19, in particular the more highly contagious variants that have emerged in recent weeks. Aspen View and its schools are all committed to helping ensure safe and effective learning environments for all students and staff.

We remind parents/guardians of students, as well as any staff, to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. The Alberta Health daily checklist can be found here. Please remember to complete the checklist each day prior to attending school.

As a reminder, if you or your child have any of the symptoms of illness listed on the Alberta Health daily checklist, please stay home/keep your child at home and fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.

For further information regarding COVID-19, please call Health Link at 811, and/or visit the Alberta Health Services website for COVID-19: https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/default.aspx.

Stay well, and stay safe.
