Aspen View Public Schools, with a division office located in the town of Athabasca, is a rural school division providing diverse and innovative programming to students in a number of communities. The division is unique in that it is surrounded by a multitude of lakes, golf courses and trails that appeal to an active, outdoor lifestyle while still being in close proximity to larger urban centers.

Many schools within Aspen View are geographically located to allow beginning teachers to meet the requirements of the Northern Student Teacher Bursary and/or Northern Alberta Development Council bursaries

Smith School, located within the Hamlet in Smith in the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River, serves approximately 65 students in Grades K to 12 within Aspen View Public School Division.  Smith has affordable housing provided and if you are a resident of Smith, you qualify for Northern Living Allowance. 

Smith School is seeking an enthusiastic teacher who is able to differentiate instructions for combined classes while creating an inclusive learning environment for all students. The school is recruiting to a 1.0 FTE Temporary Grade 3/4 Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. The teaching assignment will include Grade 3/4 General, along with Grade 1-6 Drama, Grade 3-6 STEAM, and Grade 3/4 Art classes.  This position will commence on November 1, 2023 for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year.
