An opportunity for parents to provide feedback on their children’s education

From January to March 2024, Alberta Education is conducting the annual Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) Survey. The survey asks students, their parents and all teachers on behalf of schools and school authorities to assess what is working well and where there is room for improvement. Your participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving, so we encourage you to complete your survey promptly.

What is it?

Alberta’s Assurance Framework requires school authorities across the province to report their performance according to a number of different measures that provide key information about how the education system is doing. The Assurance Survey is one component of the Assurance Framework; a provincial survey allows all school authorities to be measured on the same things at the same time.

Participants will be asked questions on a variety of topics, such as welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments; student learning engagement; and parental involvement. The survey does not ask for names and cannot be used to identify individual participants.

Who gets to do the survey?

Starting in January, Assurance Survey packages will be delivered through Canada Post to:

Parents/guardians of Grade 4, 7 & 10 students from:

  • Edwin Parr Composite School
  • H.A. Kostash School
  • Landing Trail Intermediate School
  • Thorhild Central School

Parents/guardians of Grades 4-12 students from:

  • Boyle School
  • Grassland School
  • Rochester School
  • Smith School
  • Vilna School

The mailed packages include a Random Access Code (RAC) needed to access the parent survey online.

Parents still have the option of completing a paper version of the AEA survey.  Requests for the paper survey can be directed to your child’s school principal or to Alberta Education System Assurance using the contact information below.

All surveys are anonymous and ask questions about experiences with your school.

Students and teachers in Aspen View complete their surveys online at school between January and March 2024.
