Aspen View Public Schools Attendance Boundary Review: Stakeholder Engagement

Aspen View Public Schools has engaged Focus 10 Education Consulting Group to conduct a review of Aspen View’s attendance boundaries. As part of this review, Focus 10 is providing opportunities through which current school families and other stakeholders can share their perspectives and input.

Surveys

Focus 10 is providing an online survey through which current school families can share their perspectives and input. The survey link will be provided in early February.

In-person engagement sessions

While all Aspen View attendance boundaries are included in the review, areas for specific consideration are:

  • The current Rochester School catchment area;
  • The Smoky Lake/Vilna area

To facilitate stakeholder engagement in these two areas, Focus 10 will hold in-person engagement sessions:

  • Friday, February 7, 2025, 6 p.m. at Vilna School
  • Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 6 p.m. at Rochester School

The in-person engagement sessions will gather input from families on potential scenarios for attendance boundaries, focusing on priorities, preferences, and any additional feedback.

More about the review

The attendance boundary review includes analysis of school enrolments, stakeholder feedback, and will consider school bus ride times. At the end of the review, Focus 10 will provide the Aspen View Board of Trustees with a final report that compiles findings and stakeholder input, and recommended changes to attendance area boundaries. The final report is expected to be presented at the March 20, 2025 meeting of the Board of Trustees.

Authority to change attendance area boundaries lies with the Aspen View Public Schools Board of Trustees. A decision on new attendance area boundaries must be made before the end of May 2025 for implementation for the start of the 2025-26 school year.
